Can Journalists Ever Be Heroes?

I've wanted to be a journalist and a crime novelist since I was 12-years-old, so over the years I've read a good number of novels and saw a good number of films about journalists.

Evelyn Waugh's satiric novel Scoop is a particular favorite. I've read the novel several times.

John Walsh wrote an interesting piece for the British newspaper The Independent that argues journalist "hacks" make for great literary heroes.
