My Washington Times Piece On Cop Killer Mumia Abu-Jamal: There Is No Question Of Guilt

The Washington Times published my piece on Mumia Abu-Jamal, who is appealing his conviction for murdering Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner (seen in the bottom photo).

The FBI reported that as of Dec. 18, 2018, 53 law enforcement officers were feloniously killed in 2018. Forty-five law enforcement officers were feloniously killed in the previous year.

There is nothing more dangerous than a cop killer. The criminal who is bold enough to murder a police officer, who is armed and supported by his/her fellow armed officers, will not hesitate to kill anyone, anywhere, anytime.

A cop killer is a total outlaw.

There is one cop killer in particular who continues to rankle Philadelphia police officers and other officers across the nation. In what can be called one of Philadelphia’s most celebrated criminal cases, Mumia Abu-Jamal was convicted of murder and sentenced to death in 1982 for the shooting of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981. Faulkner was only 25 years old.

Abu-Jamal was originally sentenced to death, but his sentence was commuted to life in prison.

The long, drawn out case of Abu-Jamal sadly continues on to this day. A Philadelphia Common Pleas Court judge ruled last month that Abu-Jamal can re-argue an appeal before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as the then-Chief Justice, Ronald D. Castille, did not recuse himself, although he was the Philadelphia district attorney back when Abu-Jamal was appealing his case.

A Victory For Justice

The New York Post editorial board offers a piece on the Senate's refusal to confirm Debo Adegbile.

This week, the Democratic-controlled Senate refused to confirm President Obama’s nominee for head of the Justice Department’s civil rights division, and already the history is being rewritten.

Debo Adegbile’s nomination failed to go forward when Majority Leader Harry Reid couldn’t muster the votes he needed on a procedural motion. Seven Democrats — most, but not all, up for reelection — ensured the defeat.

Reid has hinted that the vote was based on racism, and President Obama suggests Adegbile was being unfairly punished for having represented an unpopular client: Mumia Abu-Jamal, convicted of murdering Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner.

Obama Nominee Slammed For Legal Aid To Convicted Cop Killer Abu-Jamal

 

Robert Moran at the Philadelphia Inquirer offers a piece on the controversal nomination of Debo Adegbile to the Department of Justice.

Longtime Seseme Street viewers may remember him as Debo, the little boy who chatted with Grover about the letter S in the 1970s.

But to the National Fraternal Order of Police, Debo Adegbile is a civil rights lawyer who "turned the justice system on its head" by providing legal assistence for Mumia Abu-Jamal.

The Police group is fighting Adegbile's nomination by President Obama to head voter-rights enforcement at the Department of Justice.

Escape From Death Row For Convicted Cop Killer Mumia Abu-Jamal?

Nathan Gorenstein at The Philadelphia Inquirer reports on the Philadelphia District Attorney's reaction to the federal appeals court ruling that a jury be impaneled to reconsider whether Mumia Abu-Jamal receives a death sentence or life in prison for murdering Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981.
