Fort Hood Shooter Sentenced To Death

Philly.com offers a piece on the Fort Hood shooter who was sentenced to death.

FORT HOOD, Texas - A military jury yesterday sentenced Maj. Nidal Hasan to death for the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood, handing the Army psychiatrist the ultimate punishment after a trial in which he seemed to be courting martyrdom by making almost no effort to defend himself.

The rare military death sentence came nearly four years after the attack that stunned even an Army hardened by more than a decade of constant war. Hasan walked into a medical building where soldiers were getting medical checkups, shouted "Allahu akbar" - Arabic for "God is great!" - and opened fire with a laser-sighted handgun. Thirteen people were killed.

Hasan, who said he acted to protect Islamic insurgents abroad from American aggression, had no visible reaction when the sentence was announced, staring first at the jury forewoman and then at the judge.

Fort Hood Hero Kimberly Munley Says President Obama Betrayed Massacre Victims: Members Of Congress Demand Administration Classify Fort Hood Massacre An Act Of Terrorism

ABC News reports on the claims of betrayal by Fort Hood massacre victims, including former Fort Hood hero police officer Kimberly Munley (seen in the above White house photo with President Obama).

Former Officer Kimberly Munley, one of the heroes in the Fort Hood massacre, is coming out strongly against President Obama, telling ABC News that he has broken his promise to make sure the victims of the shooting would be taken care of. The ABC interview also featured video not previously released of the gruesome Fort Hood scene right after the massacre.

“Betrayal would be a good word. Not to the least little bit have the victims have been taken care of … In fact, they’ve been neglected very badly,” Munley said in the interview.

She and other Fort Hood victims are suing the military, claiming the government’s classification of the massacre as workplace violence is nothing short of political correctness, and it means less medical care and benefits for them.

... The letter recommends that members of Congress view the ABC News report, "which highlights the broken promises made to the victims of that attack by the Obama Administration. The video contains never-seen-before footage of the terrorist attack and moving interviews with several of the survivors."

CIA Arranged Marriage To Anwar Al Awlaki In Plot To Kill Terrorist Mastermind, Say Report

 

Michael Blaustein at the New York Post offers a piece on a report from a Danish newspaper about a CIA matchmaking plot to kill a top terrorist.

Talk about a match made in hell.

A Croatian woman became the third wife of American-born al-Qaeda terrorist leader Anwar al Awlaki thanks to a CIA plot designed to track down and kill one of the most wanted terrorists in the world.

Al Awlaki was linked with 2009’s Fort Hood shooting and the foiled airplane underwear bomb that happened later in the same year.

The devilish plot to kill al Awlaki revolved around a Danish CIA-al Qaeda double agent who was paid $250,000 by the US CIA in 2009 to find and deliver a European wife to the terrorist mastermind, according to Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten.

Political Correctness Vs Security: Lawmakers Blast Obama Administration For Calling Fort Hood Massacre 'Workplace Violence'

FoxNews.com reports that lawmakers are criticising the Defense Department for labeling the shooting and murder of American soldiers at Fort Hood by an Islamic fanatic, Army Major Nidal Hasan, as mere "workplace violence."

Thirteen people were killed and dozens more wounded at Fort Hood in 2009, and the number of alleged plots targeting the military has grown significantly since then. Lawmakers said there have been 33 plots against the U.S. military since Sept. 11, 2001, and 70 percent of those threats have been since mid-2009. Major Nidal Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, who is being held for the attacks, allegedly was inspired by radical U.S.-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Yemen in late September. The two men exchanged as many as 20 emails, according to U.S. officials, and Awlaki declared Hasan a hero.

The chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, Connecticut independent Sen. Joe Lieberman, said the military has become a "direct target of violent Islamist extremism" within the United States.
