Malkin: Surrounded By Armed Security, 'Hypocritical' Celebs Lecture America On Guns: 'Imagine If Every School Was As Protected As The Oscars.'

Conservative journalist Michelle Malkin (seen in the below photo) appeared on Fox News to point out the hypocrisy of Hollywood celebrities who call for gun control for everyday Americans, yet use private armed security for themselves.

Michelle Malkin took on celebrities for "lecturing" Americans on gun control while being protected by a "phalanx" of armed guards at the 90th Academy Awards.

The host of CRTV's "Michelle Malkin Investigates" said hundreds of police officers and FBI agents were "armed to the teeth" Sunday night to protect the mega-stars as they walked the red carpet.

"Their operative slogan is armed security for we, but not for thee. ... Can you imagine if every American school were as protected as the Oscars?" she asked on "Fox & Friends."

Malkin argued that Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel has in the past gotten his "talking points" straight from the Democratic Party, including Sen. Chuck Schumer.

"Why can't these people just entertain without thinking of themselves as unelected politicians in this country?" she asked, adding there is a "chasm" between Hollywood and most of America.

She said most of the stars who advocate for stricter gun control live in gated communities and travel with armed guards.

"[Yet] they lecture the rest of us as racist nativists and people who advocate for the slaughter of innocents, sanctimoniously, because we disagree with them and defend our own Second Amendment rights."

PS: I liked Jimmy Kimmel a lot better when he was fat and funny on the Man Show.

Michelle Malkin: Hey, How's America's Rail Security Doing?

Michelle Malkin at Human Events offers a piece on rail security.

With vengeance-seeking global jihadists on the loose here and around the world, now is a good time to ask (again):

Are we ready for a nefarious terrorist attack on our train and transit lines?

Smoke and fire plagued two of the nation’s major metro rail stations this week, raising justified questions about safety and preparedness. On Monday, one person died and 84 fell ill after heavy smoke filled the L’Enfant Plaza Metro in Washington, D.C. Officials believe an “electrical arcing event” caused the lethal Beltway incident. A probe into the cause of the arcing — as well as an investigation into evacuation delays that trapped hundreds of passengers — is underway.

On Tuesday, an estimated 150 New York Fire Department personnel responded to a three-alarm fire at Penn Station that started before2:30 a.m. Two firefighters suffered injuries battling the Big Apple blaze, which was initially deemed “suspicious” and then “accidental.” Worth noting: A militant ISIS sympathizer published multiple threats on Twitter a few hours before the fire, warning that “tomorrow New York will burn” and predicting a “3:00 a.m. bomb.”

Whatever the causes of these two incidents, Americans need to know whether homeland security bureaucrats are doing their jobs — or hitting their over-worn government snooze buttons.

Do You Feel Safer?: Crony Donors At Homeland Security

Michelle Malkin's column in the New York Post looks at the appointment of Jeh Johnson (seen in the above DoD photo) to head the Department of Homeland Security.

On Monday night, Senate Democrats voted 57-37 to end debate on the nomination of Jeh Johnson to head DHS. That’s three votes short of the traditional 60-vote filibuster threshold that Reid nuked last month. Johnson went on to win his appointment by a 78-16 margin.

The White House performed its Snoopy happy dance soon after, with President Obama declaring Johnson “a strong leader with a deep understanding of the threats we face and a proven ability to work across agencies and complex organizations to keep America secure.”

News coverage instead stresses that Johnson is the “first African-American” to hold the No. 1 position at DHS. Because, you know, diversity will keep us safe.

... Here’s more you should know about Johnson: He’s a lifelong beneficiary of the government/law-firm revolving door, dating back to the Clinton years. In a recent interview with a legal Web site, Johnson cheerfully bragged that his initial “foray into national security was a fluke, really. The Clinton White House recruited me to be general counsel of the Air Force. I had no idea what the job was about, had never been in the military and had never set foot in the Pentagon.”

Yep, a “fluke.” That’s a confidence-booster.

Johnson counts among the “big breaks” in his life a fateful meeting with Obama in 2006. He went on to shovel gobs of money into Obama’s campaigns and Democratic coffers. In 2008, this top campaign-finance bundler served on the Team Obama transition team. Next, Johnson found himself — like the feather floating in “Forrest Gump” — appointed to the position of general counsel at the Defense Department.

ATF's Operation Fast And Furious: Screw Up, Move Up, Cover Up

Michelle Malkin wrote an interesting column that appeared in National Review Online that covered how  Obama administration officals involved in the bust of an operation called Fast and Furious are being given new government positions.

There are now enough Operation Fast and Furious officials playing hide-and-seek in the Obama administration to fill a “rubber room.”

That’s the nickname for taxpayer-subsidized holding pens — such as the ones in the New York City public schools — where crooked employees are separated from the system and paid to do nothing. Perhaps the White House can stimulate a few construction jobs by adding an entire rubber room annex for “reassigned” scandal bureaucrats at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. It’s getting mighty crowded.

There ought to be some firing, in my view, beginning with Attorney General Holder.
