Ambushed: Masked Gunman Shoots Dead Three Cops And Wounds At Least Three More In Ambush Before Being Killed By Officers In Baton Rouge

Once again police officers have been targeted and murdered.

The Daily Mail offers coverage of the deadly shootings in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Three police officers have been killed after at least six were shot by a masked gunman in Baton Rouge - less than two weeks after the killing of Alton Sterling in the same Louisiana city.

The man, who was wearing black, was seen firing indiscriminately at around 9am as he walked out between a shop and a car wash, a witness told WBRZ. 

Police received a 911 call reporting a 'suspicious person walking down Airline Highway with an assault rifle', the source said. At least one gunman is said to have opened fire when cops arrived. 

A suspect has been shot dead and police say two others may be at large following what appears to have been an ambush.

Three officers have been confirmed dead. Four more have been injured and one is in a critical condition in hospital.

The shooting took place less than a mile from Baton Rouge's police headquarters shortly before 9am

This Is The Moment French Police Killed The Bastille Day Attacker

The New York Post offers a piece and video on the French police killing the terrorist who used a truck and a gun to murder more than 80 people in Nice.

This is the moment police killed the truck driver who had just plowed through a massive crowd of Bastille Day revelers in Nice, France, killing at least 84 and leaving more than 100 injured.

The chilling video shows cops surrounding the vehicle and firing dozens of shots into the cab as people are heard screaming.

When the gunfire ends, the officers approach the truck carefully and shine flashlights inside.

My Washington Times Review Of 'Ghost Sniper: A Sniper Elite Novel'

My review of Scott McEwen and Thomas Koloniar's Ghost Sniper appeared in the Washington Times. 

With the take-down of Osama bin Laden, the most wanted man in the world, and other bold and brave military actions, the U.S. Navy SEALs and other special operations groups are respected and admired greatly. Although the elite special operators perform in a high state of operational security and secrecy, much has been written about them, as the public is very interested in these seemingly larger-than-life military men.

In addition to many nonfiction accounts of their military actions, a good number of thrillers offer Navy SEALs and other special operators as fictional heroes. A case in point is Scott McEwen and Thomas Koloniar’s “Sniper Elite” series of thrillers.

“Ghost Sniper,” the latest thriller in the series, brings back Navy SEAL and Master Chief Gil Shannon and his comrade-in-arms, Daniel Crosswhite, a retired U.S. Army Delta Force operator and Medal of Honor recipient. The action takes place south of the border in this novel as the special operators take on a particularly vicious and ruthless Mexican drug cartel with highly-placed political connections.

Bastille Day Terror Attack: Gun And Truck Attack Leaves At Least 80 Dead In France

The British newspaper the Daily Mail offers coverage of the Bastille Day terror attack in Nice, France.

At least 80 people have been killed and more than 50 injured after a 25-tonne lorry mowed down crowds for more than a mile before the driver got out and sprayed fleeing revellers with bullets as terror struck Bastille Day celebrations on the French Riviera.

One eyewitness described seeing 'bodies flying like bowling pins' and 'hearing noises, cries that I will never forget' as the horror unfolded on a busy promenade in the southern city of Nice at around 11pm last night. 

Identity documents belonging to a 31-year-old French Tunisian were later found in the bullet-riddled truck after the gunman at the wheel was shot dead by police, security sources said.

The source added: 'The identification of the truck driver is still underway.' The recovered papers indicate the man is a resident of Nice.  

The truck driver was said to have shouted 'Allahu Akbar' – God is greatest – before being killed. Pro-ISIS groups have been celebrating the attack, orchestrated to coincide with France's most important national holiday, but as yet the terror group has not officially claimed responsibility.

A huge cache of guns, grenades and 'larger weapons' were later found inside the lorry, which mounted the pavement at approximately 40mph and steered directly towards hundreds of people watching a fireworks display. 

Around 100 revellers are then said to have dived into the sea as panic ensued and holiday crowds desperately ran for their lives.

Anti-terror police swooped in as the city was put on lockdown and residents were warned to stay indoors for their safety.

Addressing the nation, French President Francois Hollande said several children were among the dead, with 80 victims confirmed so far and a further 20 people gravely wounded. He added that it was 'undeniable' the massacre was a terrorist attack.
