Oliver North To Be Next President of the NRA

Yaron Steinbuch at the New York Post reports that Oliver North will become the president of the National Rifle Association.

Retired Marine Lt. Col. Oliver North, a central figure of the Iran-Contra scandal, will become the president of the National Rifle Association, the group announced Monday.

“This is the most exciting news for our members since Charlton Heston became President of our Association,” NRA executive vice president and CEO Wayne LaPierre said in a statement.

“Oliver North is a legendary warrior for American freedom, a gifted communicator and skilled leader. In these times, I can think of no one better suited to serve as our President,” he added.

Hillary Clinton Slammed For ‘Ignorant’ Statement On Guns After Las Vegas Shooting

Foxnews.com offers a piece on Hillary Clinton’s response to the shooting in Las Vegas.

Hillary Clinton took heat Monday for issuing what critics called an “ignorant” and “irrelevant” statement going after the NRA and silencers in the hours after the Las Vegas mass shooting.

As details were still emerging about the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history – which killed at least 58 people – the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee took to Twitter to imagine how much deadlier the massacre might have been if silencers had been used.

“The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots. Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get,” she tweeted, adding: “Our grief isn't enough. We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again.”

Freedom's Safest Place: NRA Produces Inspiring Videos Featuring Former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clark And Marine Lt Col Oliver North

The website americas1stfreedom.org offers a piece about the National Rifle Association's (NRA) series of inspiring videos that feature Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke (seen in the above photo), former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell and Marine Lt Col Oliver North.

When it comes to American warriors, few are more front-and-center than veteran Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, Lt Col Oliver North and Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke. In the new “Freedom’s Safest Place” videos, Luttrell, North and Clarke weigh in on aspects of freedom they consider critical right now.

....“The young Americans who raised their hands to fight radical Islamic terror deserve a commander-in-chief as courageous as they are,” North says. “They volunteered to fight an enemy you won’t name … and many gave their limbs and lives to win ground you surrendered. No previous generation of American soldiers, sailors, airmen, guardsmen or Marines have been sent into harm’s way by political leaders so unwilling to define what matters most: victory!”

North concludes by detailing the kind of president Americans must elect next November.
“These are my heroes, willing to fight and die for my freedom,” he says. “And I demand a commander-in-chief worthy of such sacrifice. I’m the National Rifle Association of America. And I’m freedom’s safest place.”
... Sheriff Clarke, a strong Second Amendment advocate, addresses those Americans who have become overly critical of—even antagonistic toward—our nation’s law-enforcement personnel in a spot titled “My Honor.”
“You critics don’t define our honor,” Clarke says. “You try to shame us for doing our job. You teach children to fear us, crowds to attack us and good people to doubt us. But we will never back down from our sworn duty to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America.”
Clarke adds that it is the American law-enforcement officer who wakes up every day, straps on a gun and goes into the mean streets to protect and serve all citizens.
“We are Americans, and we are the American police officer,” he says. “We stand with the National Rifle Association of America, and the NRA stands with us. Together, we’re freedom’s safest place.”

Former Texas Governor Rick Perry Loves The NRA, And The NRA Love Him Right Back

Jim Geraghty at National Review reports on former Texas Governor Rick Perry's appearance before the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Former Texas governor Rick Perry might have been the most comfortable speaker at the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting in Nashville Friday.

Maybe it’s the comfort of having run for president once already, the reassurance that comes from experience. Perhaps he’s feeling good as the only candidate in the field with military experience, and a solid economic record in his state, and some surprises like bold steps in criminal-justice reform. Perhaps it’s the confidence in knowing he would be speaking to a friendly crowd. Or maybe it’s his hipster glasses.

The Only Thing That Stops A Bad Guy With A Gun Is A Good Guy With A Gun: NRA Chief Urges Armed Guards In Every Single School

FoxNews.com reported on a speech given by NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre.

National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre on Friday dismissed calls for increased gun control in response to the Connecticut school shooting, calling instead for Congress to support a plan putting armed police officers in "every single school" in America.

In an impassioned speech, marking the NRA's first in-depth public comments since the Newtown tragedy, LaPierre pointed the finger not at gun proliferation but violent video games, the media and the absence of armed guards at schools.

He argued that if banks and members of Congress can have protection, schools across America should be afforded the same security.

"It's now time for us to assume responsibly for our schools," he said. "The only way to stop a monster from killing our kids is to be permanently involved and invested in a plan of absolute protection."

He added: "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."
